A bespoke Munson starts with a blank page.
It may begin with a body shape, a sound, a playing feel, a piece of timber, a visual idea or a story you want the instrument to carry. From there, we work with you to design and build a one-off guitar around your playing style, specification and creative direction.
Every bespoke guitar is made to order in Great Britain, with the design, wood selection, hardware, finish and final details shaped around you.
Is Bespoke Right for You?
Bespoke is the right route if you want to go beyond one of our established Munson models.
It may be a new body shape, a non-standard construction, a unique finish, an unusual pickup layout, a specialist bass, a baritone, a headless design, or an instrument built around a personal idea or story.
If you already like the shape and character of one of our existing models, the Custom Shop may be the better route. If you want to create something from the ground up, Bespoke is where that conversation starts.
Custom Guitar Experience®
A bespoke build is a collaborative process.
From the first design conversation through to the finished instrument, we keep you involved in the decisions that matter. You will see the design develop, review key details, select materials where appropriate, and receive regular build updates from the workshop.
Some decisions can evolve as the build progresses. Others need to be locked in before work begins. We make that clear at each stage, so the process feels considered, enjoyable and well managed.
The most important thing is that you enjoy the journey, from initial concept to opening the case of your new guitar, and beyond.
Bespoke Guitars – The Process
1. Design conversation
We begin with your ideas, playing style, influences and practical requirements.
2. Specification & quotation
We turn the brief into a clear specification and costed proposal.
3. Design sign-off
We refine the details, confirm the specification and, where needed, create 3D design references before the build is locked in.
4. Wood selection and build
Your guitar is built in-house using selected materials, traditional lutherie skills and modern workshop methods.
5. Workshop updates
You receive regular updates as the instrument takes shape, with key details confirmed at the appropriate stages.
6. Final setup and delivery
The guitar is inspected, set up to your preferred tuning and string gauge, then shipped fully insured.
Pricing and Payment
Bespoke commissions are priced individually, reflecting the design work, material choices, hardware, finish, development time and complexity involved. Most bespoke Munson guitars sit between £6,000 and £8,000, with more complex commissions priced according to specification.
Because each bespoke guitar is developed as a one-off commission, availability is limited. The first step is a design conversation to understand the instrument, the player and the direction of the build.
Payment is split into four clear stages: deposit, design sign-off, pre-assembly and completion.
Begin With a Design Conversation
Because every bespoke Munson is designed and built as a one-off, we only take on a small number of commissions each year.
If you are considering a bespoke build, the first step is a conversation about the instrument, the ideas behind it and the way you want it to feel, sound and respond.
There is no pressure to commit. It is simply the best place to start.
Previous Bespoke Commissions
Every bespoke build starts from a different place. Some are based on artwork or visual ideas. Others are built around a specific playing requirement, construction method or sound. These examples show the range of work possible when the design begins outside the standard model range.

Not Sure Where to Start?
You do not need to arrive with a finished specification.
Some bespoke projects begin with a clear design brief. Others start with a sound, a playing feel, a body shape, a piece of timber, or simply the feeling that an off-the-shelf guitar is not quite right.
The first conversation is there to explore the idea, understand what you want from the instrument, and work out whether a bespoke Munson is the right route.
