The Tempest starts with the familiar balance, clarity and versatility of a T-style guitar, then develops from there. Each one is built to order, with the woods, pickups, neck feel, hardware and finish chosen around the player.
The Tempest is Munson’s made-to-order T-style guitar: familiar in feel, versatile in sound, and built around the player.
It can be specified as a traditional workhorse, a modern performance instrument, a semi-hollow guitar, or something more personal. The platform gives you the balance and immediacy of a classic T-style design, while the details are chosen around your playing style, sound and finish preferences.
What makes the Tempest special?
Classic shape, custom intent
The Tempest starts with a familiar single-cut outline, but it is built as a Munson from the ground up. Body wood, neck profile, pickups, hardware and finish are all chosen around the player, not taken from a fixed production spec.

Your sound, not a stock voice
Pickups, electronics and hardware are selected to suit the way you play. The Tempest can be voiced for classic bite, warmer blues tones, heavier drive or something more individual.
Built around feel
The neck is one of the most personal parts of a guitar. The Tempest can be shaped around your preferred feel, from vintage-inspired profiles to a faster, more modern response.

A British custom guitar
Every Tempest is built to order in the Munson workshop. It carries the character of a classic working guitar, but with the detail, finish and individuality of a one-off British custom build.
The name behind the model

The name Tempest nods to the Hawker Tempest, a fast and versatile RAF fighter aircraft. That idea of versatility sits at the centre of the guitar: a classic platform, refined and adapted for the player in front of it.
British Custom Guitars
Every Tempest is designed and built in Britain, one at a time.
We use British-sourced materials and components wherever possible, including selected native timbers, locally made pickups and British strings. Each build is shaped around the player, combining classic guitar design with the detail and individuality of a true custom instrument.

Commissioning a Tempest?
Most Munson made-to-order builds typically sit in the £3,500–£4,500 range, depending on specification. Payment is split into clear stages: deposit, design sign-off, pre-assembly and completion.
The first step is a design conversation, where we talk through the way you play, the sounds you need, the specification and whether the Tempest is the right starting point.
